I have been unsuccesful at independently verifying this story, because I like to use links to prove things are real..but this story is just too good to not spread around, so here is a pasted version of the article that was emailed to me from my brother, enjoy...
Free Cheetos, Mountain Dew, Cigarettes for Liberated Iraqis
--------
Associated Press
April, 11 2003 – White House officials confirmed today that several U.S. corporations had been given the "green-light" to deliver free consumer products to war-torn Iraq.
PepsiCo, Frito-Lay, Liggett-Meyers, and General Mills were among a list of private organizations that were granted permission by the executive office to supply free product samples in the Iraqi relief effort.
"We’re really excited about this," said Al Bru, CEO of Frito-Lay. "We’re talking about millions of people that have never tasted a Cheeto. That might sound like small potatoes to Americans, but Iraqis are simply going to go nuts."
An unnamed source inside the Pentagon suggested that the free products would be delivered by air. "We’re basically going to re-bomb the country with soda pop, smokes, and Doritos," said the source on the basis of anonymity. "The products will have to spread over a wide area to avoid rioting. It’s going be a huge operation."
The comments came on the third day of pillaging in the capital, and violence repeated itself anew with the fall of each additional city in northern Iraq. – Salon.com
